Fifteen-year-old Macintyre is contesting his first full season out of karts with Elite and wrapped up the GJ Rookie title with five races remaining. He has an outside chance of claiming the outright title at Brands Hatch this weekend (8-9 Oct) having scored 13 overall podiums including five overall victories.
The three races at Donington later this month will mark Will’s maiden single-seater races, the Leicestershire venue in which he raced at for the first time just six months ago in the opening rounds of GJ series having competed in the four-race 2021 Ginetta Junior Winter Series last November with Elite.
Macintyre will join Elite’s GB4 regular Jack Sherwood at Donington, Jack himself having moved up from a maiden Ginetta Junior season last year into single-seaters and lies fifth in the Driver’s standings. Sherwood remains in mathematical contention for the inaugural GB4 title having claimed nine podiums, including two wins, in the last 13 races.
William Macintyre
“I’m very happy to be given the opportunity by Eddie and Elite to race a GB4 – it’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down!
“Hopefully we can have similar success in the last rounds at Donington as we experienced in the Ginetta this year.”
Eddie Ives, Team Owner & Manager
“I’m really excited to be putting Will straight from Juniors into a GB4 car.
“He’s shown his ability to progress quickly in his first full year of car racing, making a big impression in Juniors this season with some exceptional driving.
“Next Thursday’s test day will be the first time he’s driven a GB4 but I’m confident with his ability that we can have a fun and competitive weekend.”
