John Bennett began his “rookie” GB3 season in style at Oulton Park (16-18 Apr) by netting fifth place in his maiden single-seater race and repeated the feat with another fine fifth in Race 2. John rounded off a very impressive event with 10th in the reverse grid Race 3.
Tom Lebbon received a post-qualifying penalty which meant he began Race 1 from 11th. He stalled at the start but recovered well to finish 14th. Tom recorded sixth place in Race 2 – half a second behind Bennett – before finishing 16th in Race 3 but was a later disqualified.
James Hedley achieved 13th in Race 1 – all three Elite drivers qualifying for the opener in the top-10 prior to Lebbon’s penalty – losing time when James had to avoid a spinning car. He recorded 10th in Race 2 then 12th in the final race of the day.
Eddie Ives, Team Owner & Manager
“It was a great team effort to rock up at Round 1 and have all three Elite cars qualify inside the top-10 in such a strong and competitive championship.
“I was over the moon with John’s performances at Oulton. He didn’t put a foot wrong and was exceptionally quick throughout.
“All three drivers are working very well together and I’m hoping they can all push each other to fight closer to the front at Silverstone next month.”
