The Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship reconvenes at Thruxton later this month with Elite Motorsport still placed second in the Teams’ standings and with Seb Hopkins, Will Jenkins and Josh Rowledge third, fifth and sixth in the Drivers’ Championship – the latter second in the Rookie category.

The latest four races were staged at Knockhill in Scotland last weekend (14-15 Aug) and saw Elite claim six podiums.

Hopkins brilliantly posted two second row starts staged on a drying track in quali for Races 1 and 3, Seb claimed third in Race 1 that was interrupted by a Red Flag. Contact at the chicane put Seb into the gravel in Race 2, dropping to a 19th place finish. He achieved another podium in Race 3, rounding off with second place in the last race – his eighth podium this season and fourth P2.

Jenkins was on a hot lap in quali, good enough for a top-three grid place when the Red Flag brought it to an end, Will a frustrated 15th (Race 1) and ninth (Race 3). But he brilliantly scored a fine fifth in Race 1, and fastest race lap, then posted his ninth top-six finish of the season in Race 2. Running P6 at mid-distance and battling for a podium position in Race 3, he was spun around into the gravel. Starting Race 4 P22, Will ran 14th but a car spun directly in front of him at the chicane triggering a multi-car accident bringing a premature end to the race with 11 laps completed.

Rowledge recorded sixth overall/second Rookie in Race 1, and fastest Rookie race lap – the outright quickest lap – before starting Race 2 from overall pole-position, the race carried over from Oulton Park. Josh found himself shuffled back to sixth on lap one and came home eighth overall, fourth in class. Early on Sunday morning, he came home second in the Rookies before finishing the event off with his 11th Rookie podium of the year in Race 4. The Knockhill results moving Josh up from eighth to sixth in the overall standings.

Elite’s next best-placed Rookie in the standings remains Hall. Having ran just outside the top-10 overall early in Race 1, Max equalled his best quali position of the season for Race 3 on Sunday morning, a fine seventh in the Rookie class, finishing ninth in the race. In the final race he ran 11th but had to be content with 16th overall/10th in Rookies.

Warhurst scored points in three of the four Knockhill races, scoring a best eighth place Rookie finish in Round 10 – just missing out on a further top-10 Rookie placings in the other races – a cracked car bonnet hampering his progress in Race 1. Sherwood achieved his best overall placing of the season when he claimed 14th in Race 1, also equalling his best Rookie placing of eighth, and set his best season quali of the season for Race 3 on Sunday – fifth in the Rookie field. After posting his first non-finish of the season in Race 3 having oversteered into the gravel at Turn 3 while battling, Jack posted 13th in Race 4.

Eddie Ives, Team Owner & Manager:

“We’re in a solid second place in the Teams’ Championship with everything still up for grabs with 12 races remaining.
Seb, Will and Josh are inside the top-six in the Driver’s standings and are knocking on the door of scoring Elite’s first Junior race win of the season – Seb and Will having already netted 11 podiums between them."

“Rookie' Josh has achieved 11 overall top-10s with a best fourth place finish so he’s close to an outright podium. Max, Joe and Jack are coming to terms with their first season out of karts, visiting new racetracks, and learning with every lap.”
