Michelin Ginetta Junior Teams’ Championship leaders Elite Motorsport enjoyed a phenomenally successful weekend at its local Snetterton circuit, the Shipdham near Thetford based outfit recording an incredible 11 podiums including two outright and three class victories in the three-race event (13-14 Aug).

William Macintyre (pictured below) secured his third overall victory when he took the chequered flag first in a hectic Race 1. The lead changed multiple times but Will was to the fore when it mattered. He led after two laps in Race 2 but was demoted to third on the fifth lap. He then optimistically challenged team-mate Kanato Le (pictured above) for the lead on the penultimate lap but lost nine-places, coming home 10th overall.

Will, who celebrated his 15th birthday yesterday (14 Aug), completed lap one of Race 3 in sixth place, having gained four places on the opening lap, led but had to ultimately settle for second place, and his 11th Rookie class victory of the year, having also set the outright fastest lap.

Le began Race 1 from the second row, led with two laps remaining, but had to be content with ninth overall and fastest lap. He recovered from 12th on the penultimate lap following contact dicing for the lead. Kanato claimed his best quali position of the season for Race 2, starting from the front row – losing out on pole by 0.048s – completed lap one in fifth but took the lead on the fifth-lap, going on to record his second outright win of the season. He led a frenetic Race 3, lay third two corners from home but was classified fifth overall, third in class in the end.

Joe Warhurst, fourth in Race 1, lost four places on the opening lap of Race 2 but recovered to claim fifth (third in Rookies) then eighth in the finale. Aqil Alibhai posted fifth, seventh and 10th overall finishes while McKenzie Douglass claimed third in class in Races 1 and 2 then seventh in Race 3. Shavran Shanmugavel missed the Snetterton event due to travelling to India after the death of his grandfather. The next races are held at Thruxton (27-28 Aug).
